The Determined Luddites

The Determined Luddites are: Dan Davis on mandolin, mandola and vocals, Daniel Hostetler on guitar and vocals, Gabe Hostetler on bass, and-as often as we can-Peter McLaughlin on guitar and vocals.  Closing in on 20 years worth of live performing, the Luddites focus on original music that draws on traditions of folk, bluegrass, punk, and country;  hard-hitting songs about boom and bust life in the southwest, ballads of love and loss, adventurous acoustic-nouveau instrumental pieces.  The original tunes are supplemented by an array of trad fiddle tune medleys and the occasional Iggy Pop, Buck Owens, or Ramones cover.  Closing in on 20 years of live performances, Gene Armstrong in the Tucson Weekly noted the Luddites'  "furious, high-octane chops", while Dan Buckley in the Citizen cited the "brilliance of construct and deft execution"
